Staying Out of the Headlines: Addressing Risks Associated with ARRA

The passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has presented a significant number of opportunities for government, not-for-profit, and commercial entities to expand upon current and initiate new programs and services. However, ARRA also establishes a number of mandates that recipients must comply with or risk potential financial and legal penalties in addition to public scrutiny. These include monitoring and reporting requirements and, by virtue of receiving funds, potential exposure to governmental audit requirements.

This teleconference will address these monitoring and reporting requirements and the potential noncompliance penalties associated with ARRA funds. We will discuss:

  • Lessons learned from the first two reporting periods
  • How prime recipients can approach and address sub-recipient and contract monitoring
  • Conclude with a discussion of annual audits and ARRA's impact on audit approach and execution

This teleconference is critical for financial, legal, and program managers who receive or distribute ARRA funds and are thereby responsible for their use and associated program performance.
