FedWorld - U.S. Department of Commerce Program - The FedWorld.gov web site is a gateway to government information. This site is managed by the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) as part of it's information management mandate. In 1992, FedWorld was established by The National Technical Information Service (NTIS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, to serve as the online locator service for a comprehensive inventory of information disseminated by the Federal Government. This service assisted agencies and the public in electronically locating Federal Government information, both information housed within the NTIS repository and outside of NTIS.
Public Works Online - PUBLIC WORKS Online, like its parent magazine PUBLIC WORKS, is the voice of the professionals who serve America's communities. It serves the entire industry of key decision makers in public works department at all levels of municipal, county and state government. PUBLIC WORKS Online is balanced between the people, projects, and big issues that affect the public works sector. U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works - The Committee on Environment and Public Works' jurisdiction has grown from oversight of new Federal building construction, additions to the U.S. Capitol building and grounds, and the White House and its grounds, to legislative responsibility for the development of the Nation's interstate highway system, flood control and navigation projects. The committee's oversight extends to programs in five cabinet level departments and seven independent agencies, including the Department of the Interior's Fish and Wildlife Service, the Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration and the Coast Guard, the Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, etc.
United States Department of Transportation - Federal Highway Administration - FHWA is charged with the broad responsibility of ensuring that America's roads and highways continue to be the safest and most technologically up-to-date. Although State, local, and tribal governments own most of the Nation's highways, we provide financial and technical support to them for constructing, improving, and preserving America's highway system. Our annual budget of more than $30 billion is funded by fuel and motor vehicle excise taxes. The budget is primarily divided between two programs: Federal-aid funding to State and local governments; and Federal Lands Highways funding for national parks, national forests, Indian lands, and other land under Federal stewardship.
